THE TEAM

Naomi, a qualified secondary teacher, is a keen artist who runs evening classes for adult education and enjoys working with and supporting the community. Her love of the great outdoors in any weather and spending time with her own labrador companion is what drew her away from full time teaching and into the joyous world of dog walking.

Kathryn, also a teacher of twenty-plus years has exchanged the primary classroom for the love of the great outdoors. She is a keen hill-walker, camper and traveller and since having her own dog from a pup has embraced the life of a dog walker and enjoys nothing more than the company of dogs on the park whatever the weather!

Your questions answered...

SHOULD MY PET BE WALKED AS PART OF A GROUP OR INDIVIDUALLY?

Putting Your Pet First

Regardless of your pet’s age, breed or behaviours, our daily walks are tailored to suit your dogs needs, whether that be walking as part of a group or individually. Group walks will be well planned with consideration given to the mix of personalities and required levels of exercise. Both on or off lead walking is offered with relevent permissions in place. Following an intial introduction to your pet, we will aim to build their walking plan to include the amount of exercise and socialisation they prefer. We understand that different dogs enjoy differing amounts of socailising, some prefering little interaction at all. If this is the case, we are happy to help and may recommend our individual walks rather than the groups.

WHERE WILL MY PET WALK?

Location..location..location!

Variety is the spice of life and whilst we recognise that routine has many benefits, we also like to offer variety when it comes to walking your dog. We are fortunate that our locality offers a great selection of dog friendly open spaces appropriate for both on and off-lead walking; Knighton Park, Brocks Hill, Wistow and Shady Lane Arboretum to name a few. We will endeavour to give your pet a variety of experiences to include paved trails, open spaces, woodland and water.

WILL MY PET BE COLLECTED?

Home Sweet Home

Yes! Our business insurance allows us the freedom to pick up and return your dog to suit the timing of their walk/s. We are reliable and trustworthy, and happy to hold keys to your property should your dog be home alone. We will endeavour to return your dog as clean and dry as possible and settle them back at home ensuring food and water provisions are in place.

HOW LARGE WILL THE GROUP BE?

Size matters

Whilst there is no legal requirement to keep the groups to a certain size, we will always maintain the recommended maximum group size of 4 dogs per walker. As there are two of us working at Hikes 4 Hounds, this means that when walking together there could be a maximum of 8 dogs between us. On these occasions, the dogs are offered the wonderful opportunity to socialise and make new friends as well as getting the exercise they need! Whilst in groups, your dog will be offered the opportunity to play with their friends off the lead, should you have given pre arranged permission to do this. Alternatively they can remain on lead and still have a fantastic time at closer range!

WHAT CONTRACTS WILL I NEED TO SIGN?

Check out our paperwork in advance!

Why not take a look at the few bits of paperwork we will need to discuss with you prior to taking your dog out for the first time? Along with meeting your pet, the pet registration form will give us some of the instant information we need to gather in order to get to know your pet and be better able to cater for their individual needs. We will also need you to give us some information about your chosen vet and ask you to sign a permissions form, as is standard practice. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding any of these forms.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ONCE I MAKE CONTACT?

As quick as you like!

Phone, email or fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page and we will respond as soon as possible. We recognise that some clients are keen to get started quickly whilst others have more time available to meet and greet. We will do whatever we can to answer you questions and meet your needs. Generally after initial contact, we will arrange to meet you and your pet at your earliest conveniance, discuss the the relevent forms (assisting you to complete them if necessary) and potentially get your first walk booked in. With your help, we will assess and recommend a walk suitable for the needs of your furry friend and discuss collection and drop off arrangements. We recognise that some people may require a more immediate service and we will do our best to accomodate this by processing your booking as quickly as possible. We understand that finding the right dog walker is a two-way thing and that they need to be just as happy with us as we are with them.
